Read a lot of books on finance and investment recently. Nearly all the books state in the first page that "this is not a get rich quick book", then a few pages later the authors will say "gambling is not a way to get rich."
I agree that gambling, even casual gambling is a high risk activity. Most of the times, the capital (even if $1) is lost, completely lost. But the books overlook the fact that once you strike big, the return is actually thousands, ten-thousands, hundred-thousands or even million times your capital.
Casual gambling is the only way to make money, to make a lot of money, without much effort. Casual gambling is the only way to make money really fast. Losing money is also very fast.
So I will still buy lottery ticket, knowing that once the money is out, I may not see it again. I want to have a hope. The hope that I will one day be a millionaire. A lotto (toto) ticket is a chance to win big. I will buy $1 or at most $2, forgo the coffee money, to have the hope.
So wish me luck! Thank you very much
