The Terms and Conditions of Love

Someone made a comment on love in Mylot discussion forum the other day "You may be hurt if you love too much, but you will live in misery if you love too little."

So the multi-billion dollars question is: How much to love and be loved?

I don't know the answer. That's why I am not a multi-billionaire yet.

What I do know is this: Love has its terms and conditions. In most case, the terms and conditions are unspoken and unwritten. But it is there, accept love only when you can agree to oblige by its terms and conditions.

For example, many of us love to have a pet. In my case, I love to have a dog. My doggy will stage a grand welcome whenever I reach home. My doggy will love me and never betray me. My doggy will never scold me and answer back when I scold it. My doggy will accompany me for a walk at whatever time I like.

But I do not have a doggy and unlikely to have one in the foreseeable future, because I could not agree and oblige by the terms and conditions.

The terms and conditions of loving a pet:
a. To provide food, shelter and attention to the pet
b. To take care of it till the moment it departs to its permanent home
c. To protect it from harm and not to abuse it

Of course the doggy will never ask me to sign any document, but the terms and conditions are there, in a word known as "responsbility".

And this is just about owning and loving a pet. How much more for rearing and loving a child?

To love and be loved is great, especially when both parties agree to the terms and conditions of love with their whole heart, whole mind and whole soul.
