Toothache and the causes

All of us suffer from toothache before. For those of us who have dental phobia, suffering from the toothache is one of the nightmares in life.

As we curse and swear at the toothache in the middle of the night, most of us regret not caring for our teeth better. We wonder why God allows us to suffer from toothache, well knowing that it is due to our bad oral hygiene that causes the toothache.

Unbearable pain of toothache

A toothache can come without warning, at its own time. The worst is having a toothache over the holiday period, when the dentists are all away on holiday. Even worse than toothache is the fact that we do not have the mood to eat anything. That is the time when all our favorite food is on the table.

Toothache always come at the time when we least expect it. The pain of toothache can be unbearable at night. When the dental clinic is opened during the day, the pain from toothache is not so bad. The pain of toothache at night can make us cry, and keep us from having a good night sleep.

We will do practically everything we can to make the toothache stop.

What causes toothache?

There are many different factors to cause a toothache.

One cause of toothache is decay. That is usually the result of bad oral hygiene on our part.

Another cause of toothache is the fracture in the tooth. Sometimes a hairline cracks in the tooth can cause unbearable pain, especially when we bite on something.

A crack in the tooth is nearly invisible to the naked eye and x-rays. The cracks in the tooth can cause us to feel as if the end of the world is here. Our head feel like exploding, since the dentin and nerves are exposed to the air. If we do not seek the help of the dentist, the toothache will get worse, maybe to the point where the tooth breaks off at the gums.

Cavities are the cause of the toothache too. This is the least worrying of the causes of toothache.

Pulp irritation is another factor that causes toothaches, and it happens after a dental treatment. It does not matter how well the filling or crown was done, the problem is that the materials used in fixing the tooth can cause toothache later on. There is nothing we can do, since crowns can come off or the filling can come out. When this happens, all we need to do is return to the dentist to fix the problem.

An exposed root or nerve can cause terrible headache. This is sometimes due to the rough brushing, which causes the gums to recede and expose the root. Once the root of the tooth is exposed, breathing in through the mouth can trigger a terrible toothache. Eating an ice-cream will cause terrible toothache, which in turn will cause terrible headache as well.

To prevent the terrible toothache from exposed nerves, we must take care when we brush our teeth. We should never try to tear the gums apart in the hope of making the teeth cleaner.

Chewing tobacco is a common factor of toothaches, since the tobacco will erode our teeth. It does not take long for toothache to occur, especially when we chew tobacco every day.

Smoking is a trigger for toothache too, since the smoke is bad for the teeth and erodes the teeth as well.

Even though there are many causes of toothaches, we can do many things to prevent toothache. We can brush our teeth daily, and visit a dentist regularly to fix minor problems. Whenever we get a toothache, we have to visit the dentist immediately.

Even if we have dental phobia, we have to overcome our fear of dentist. After all, we know that toothache never goes away on its own. Only the dentist can fix the toothache, and we have to visit the dentist sooner or later.

The dentist may be able to stop the toothache and save the tooth. This will help you to save money on tooth extraction and other dental procedures.

  2. Dear Natasha, how are you feeling now? Is it because you bite on something hard and cause the toothache?
I hope you are not dating a dentist.
