Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris is too cozy. Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris is an “everyday” kind of story, nothing thrilling about the death or the capture of the murderer. Since my daily existence is rather dull, basically doing the same thing day in day out, I read thrillers to escape from reality. I do not need a cozy book like Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris to remind me of housework and cooking.
The setting of this story is in a small town, where everyone knows everyone and gossips spread very fast.
There is no element of suspense in Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris. When Aurora “Roe” Teagarden mentions that she feels drowsy and extremely tired, I’m guessing she’s being poisoned by the murderer. In the end, the fatigue is due to her pregnancy. Such a disappointment!
Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris is a very thin book, less than 300 pages. The sentences are spaced out to make for easier reading. I can usually finish this kind of paperback within a day. However, since Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris is such a boring book, I took about a week to finish it.
The motive for the murder is exceptionally unbelievable. I can understand a woman killing another woman for sleeping with her husband. However, I can’t understand why a woman wants to kill another woman for the sake of becoming a women’s club group. It seems a very stupid motive for a murder. This is an insult to people living in small towns, since it implies that folks in small town have nothing better to aim for.
The only good point about Poppy Done to Death by Charlaine Harris is that this book is devoid of foul language. It is a book written in good taste. This book highlights the author’s love for the cozy living in small towns.
There is a wise sentence in Poppy Done to Death
The author wrote, “To make a family work, you have to be willing to keep your mouth shut, and park your judgments by the door.”
