My colleague committed suicide

I just heard the news that my ex-colleague committed suicide. Of all ways to commit suicide, he chose the most painful method. He drank pesticide to commit suicide.

The sad thing is that he did not die straightaway. The acid burnt his mouth, and the throat rotting away. And he spent his last few days struggling for life (or death) in the hospital, while his wife and kids cried.

The root cause of his problem was gambling. He gambled and he gambled big. He did not just use a few hundred dollars to gamble. He borrowed money, and had gambling debt running into a few hundred thousand dollars.

It is sad that a promising and hardworking person could not overcome gambling problem. He was a good supervisor and very hardworking person. When a project demanded it, he could work overnight to see the project into successful completion.

For a person with low education, he was making more than many degree holders. If only he could overcome his gambling addiction, he could see his kids into college and paid off his house within ten years. However, he chose to commit suicide.

We hadn’t heard anything from him for a long time. He disappeared from work one day. He managed to borrow a large sum of money from many people before his disappearing acts. His house was foreclosed by the bank, and all his cell phones were always in engaged tone.

He brought his family elsewhere to escape debt.

Then the news came that he committed suicide and was dying slowly and painfully in the hospital. We got the news through his brother-in-law, who contacted one of his closed friends.

I wonder how his kids feel. His kids are old enough to remember the collectors coming to spray paints. His kids are old enough to feel the shame. His kids are old enough to remember my colleague, who was a loving father.

I cannot imagine how he lived his days after his disappearing acts. His brother-in-law did not even know where he had gone. After all, his brother-in-law also lent him money.

This is the second time I have personal experience with suicide. I can understand those who are old and sickly, and they commit suicide to escape from the mounting medical bills and the ceaseless pain. They do not see much purpose in living forever in pain.

However, I cannot understand why a healthy young person who is earning a managerial salary despite low education commits suicide. He can seek treatment for his gambling addiction, and work hard to pay back all the debt.

I suppose when a person is facing a dark and bleak future, he does not think far, and he does not even think of the effect of his suicide on his family members. He must have lived in deep and dark depression.

He probably view committing suicide as possibly the only way out of the demon of gambling addiction. It’s so sad to see that his method of committing suicide brings so much pain and suffering to him, and to his family. I wonder what is on his mind as he struggles with the pain from rotting throat and possibly rotting organs.

Hope his family can stand up strong, and overcome all adversity.

Reflection: jobless and career change

Jobless is a depressing period. When you are jobless, you probably enjoy the first month. After the first month of jobless existence, you start to panic as you sense that the prospect of getting a job is very bleak.

After a few more months of jobless existence, you start to question whether you are a victim of structural unemployment.

Structural unemployment means that the job you lose is not going to come back. The whole industry has relocated to other countries, and not going to provide you with a job anymore.

At this point of jobless existence, you start to think of career change.

It is easier to think of career change for a young, jobless person. A young jobless person probably has to work for another thirty years before retirement, so a career change is not a scary thought.

For a jobless person nearing retirement age, and has been in the same industry for the past thirty years, the thought of a career change is frightening. The thought of starting all over again, going to school, getting a job that is a third of former salary, and reporting to a superior younger than your son is scary.

Questions to ask about Jobless and Career Change

The first and foremost question when you are jobless is: Do you need a career change? You may not need a career change if the job market shrinks, but the industry is still around.

For example, the construction industry has a boom and bane cycle. If you are a civil engineer, you may not need a career change in a down cycle of construction industry. You are only temporarily jobless. What you can do is to upgrade your skill and keep up with the latest development in the industry.

The second most important question when you are jobless is: Do you want a career change?

If the job is not going to come back, and you do not want a career change, you have to consider the prospect of working overseas. Since jobs are going overseas, you can follow the jobs and work overseas if you do not want a career change.

If you are temporary jobless, you may think about this question. Some people want a career change, since they do not enjoy their work. Some people want a career change when their circumstances change.

Career Change

If you are jobless and have decided on a career change, you can consider the factors below:

The first factor for a career change is to decide on capitalizing your existing skills. If you are a welder for the shipyard, and the shipyard closes down, you can consider utilizing the welding skill in other industry.

You have to make a list of your existing skills and a list of jobs that require the skills.

The second factor for a career change is to consider your hobby and activity that you are good at.

You can consider converting your passion into a career or a business. You can consider teaching others to participate in your hobby, sell products for collectors or participants. For example, your hobby is running. You can consider a career change as a fitness trainer or instructor.

The third factor for a career change is to network. If you are jobless due to economic factors, chances are your friends are also jobless. You can network with your friends to consider the next stage in life. If your friends have some business ideas, and need helpers, you can consider joining the business venture.

The fourth factor for a career change is to lower your expectation. When you enter a new industry as a newbie, you will have to take the salary of new entrant. You have to lower your expectation, and prepare to climb the corporate ladder from the bottom.

The fifth factor for a career change is to think long term. You want to go into a promising industry with long term prospect. You do not want a job in a sunset industry. A career change in a life time is enough. You do not need career changes so many times in your life.

The sixth factor for a career change is to acquire skills that are needed in every industry. Accounting and financial reporting are two areas that are in demand across all industries. You hardly hear accountants jobless for long. When the accountants from one industry are jobless, they can find jobs in another industry.

The seventh factor for a career change is the cost of education. When you are jobless, that is the best time to pick up new skill. You can consider returning to school. However, you have to consider the cost of education and learning a new skill.

It might be more practical to pick up a skill within a few months than to enroll in 2 years degree course. You can check the financial assistance available.

The eighth factor for a career change is to work freelance. You can consider getting a certification for whatever skills you have. Once you have the relevant certification, you can consider working as a freelance agent.

The ninth factor for a career change is to explore online opportunities. You can consider making money online by affiliate marketing. You can consider setting up a website based on your hobby. You can consider writing articles to identify yourself as an expert in relevant field. You can make recommendation for certain products and earning commission for the sales of certain products.

The last factor for a career change is to be flexible. If you are new to an industry, you can start from different position. If you are not selected for a given position, you can ask the company to place you in another position.

Further thoughts on jobless and career change

While jobless is a depression period, it is not the end of the world. In many cases, getting jobless is not the fault of anyone. The changes in the world are too quick and unpredictable for anyone or any company to react.

Many people get into depression when they are jobless. It is useless to think of how bad things can be when you are already jobless. Thinking negatively does not make you happy and does not make money for you when you are jobless. It is best to get the most of jobless stage to improve your skill and prepare for career change.

You can make full use of the current jobless stage to prepare for the future. Economy goes up and down. Eventually the economy will boom and there will be a job for everyone who wants to work.

How to handle essay exam

Introduction to essay exam

Many students dread essay exam.  I, for one, loved essay exam in college.  I loved to "prove" my professors wrong, and essay exam was the last chance to do it in a module.

It does not matter how hard you study or how many hours you spend in reading and memorizing the notes.

As long as you do not know the techniques to handle essay exam, you are not going to graduate with good grades.  It is better to study smart and master the art of passing essay exam, than to study hard without a single clue on how to handle essay exam.

How to handle essay exam

The first step in essay exam is to understand the concept. When you study for essay exam, you must understand the “why” and “how”. Bear in mind that college essay exam is not testing your knowledge of “what”. College essay exam is testing your application of knowledge.

As long as you understand “why” there is a problem, and “how” to solve the problem, you can pass essay exam. Application of knowledge is more important that the theories and facts. Even if you come out with unusual solution for essay exam, you will pass the essay exam with flying colors.  Your professors will reward you for independent thinking.

The second step in essay exam is to understand the question.

When you get the essay exam paper, you must highlight the important words in the question. For example, “why is succession planning crucial for the survival of the organization?”, you can highlight the word “why”, “succession planning” and “survival”.

This question assumes that you agree succession planning is crucial for the survival of the organization. You have to list the reasons and provide examples to support your argument in the essay exam. Since the question does not ask for “how”, you do not need to talk about the different processes of succession planning.

That is why understand the question in essay exam is very important. You can save time and score better if you understand the question in essay exam.

If you cannot spot the important words in the essay exam at first glance, you will have to read and re-read the question in essay exam. Only when you are very confident that you know what the question in the essay exam ask, and you have enough key points to provide a satisfying answer, then you can start your writing.

Many students who opt to head into essay writing without first understanding the question in essay exam will have mediocre results, even if they are excellent writers.

The third step in essay exam is to start with a plan.

Before you write anything, you must have the few key points to answer the question in essay exam.

You must have enough supporting evidence for each key point. If you can remember any recent news to support your argument, that is a bonus to scoring very well in essay exam.

If you cannot remember anything from real life, you can use a scenario. You can make up a story. You can tell the story of a successful family business, and the boss of the family business suffers heart attack. The family business does not have succession plan in place. That is an easy way to tackle essay exam.

If case you are working on a timed essay, you have to develop a time plan for each question in the essay exam.

You should not run out of time due to bad timing. If you need to answer six questions in an essay exam, and you have only three hours, it is best that you complete each question in essay exam in 20 minutes.

If you fail to plan properly, you could suffer a 'hanging work' in essay exam. That is when you do not have time to do all the 6 questions, or you do not have time to proofread your answer in essay exam.

The fourth step in essay exam is to observe the rules of good writing. It does not matter how good or how bad your skill in writing is, you can pass essay exam as long as the professor understands what you have written.

You must remember to use short sentences and use simple English in essay exam. You must remember to space out the paragraphs. You must remember to have an Introduction, Body and Conclusion as the subheadings.

You should avoid using slang, jargon and superficial words in essay exam. It is better to use simple English to avoid the misapplication of certain jargon in essay exam.

You must remember to have use different paragraphs to explain different key points. You must remember to take a stand in the conclusion for questions that need a “yes or no”, “agree or not agree” answer in essay exam.

The last step in essay exam is to proof-read your work. You must read through the answer script as least once. You must put yourself in the shoes of the professor marking the essay exam. You have to change any word that is unclear or illegible. You must make sure you got the name of the corporations or famous people spelt correctly in essay exam.

Conclusion to essay exam

The purpose of essay exam is not to show how much you know. The purpose of essay exam is to show how you can apply the knowledge. Even if you do not know all the theories in the textbook, as long as you can show your ability to apply what you know, you will pass the essay exam.

Deceit by James Siegel

I am very touched by this book, Deceit by James Siegel.

What happens to Tom Valle, an investigative reporter, in Deceit by James Siegel could easily happen to us.

It is very easy to yield to the temptation to lie and cheat. Tom Valle started to lie when he missed the flight to interview a person. He cooked up a marvelous tale with human elements. He managed to get away with it, and with more than fifty stories, until the truth caught up with him.

Deceit by James Siegel occurred after the disgrace. Tom Valle found a job with a small local newspaper. He was sent to report a car crash. This investigative instinct was aroused, and he went on to discover a major cover-up.

Deceit by James Siegel was rather slow-moving at first. However, as the story progresses, the tragedy of a small town destroyed by flood fifty years ago become the captivating part of Deceit by James Siegel.

The plot of Deceit by James Siegel is rather unbelievable. It is hard to imagine a nuclear plant in US disguising as a dam without the arousing the suspicion of the locals. It is hard to imagine that people living in the small town and surrounding towns unaffected by the leakage of radioactive material. Deceit by James Siegel is a bit far-fetched in this case.

There are many small details not given full explanation in Deceit by James Siegel. There is no explanation for how much the local knows or suspects. There is no explanation for the “they” who sought to cover up the nuclear plant disaster in the small town. Deceit by James Siegel also does not explain the part that the sheriff or the editor play in the cover-up.

As a thriller, Deceit by James Siegel is disappointing. The plot is unbelievable, and there are many unanswered question. However, as a study of human nature, Deceit by James Siegel is a marvelous book. It shows that life after disgrace is hard. Nobody will believe a liar once exposed.

If Deceit by James Siegel is the first book you read, you will probably not notice the decline in his writings. If you have read the first two books by James Siegel, I suggest that you give Deceit a miss. You will be very disappointed since Deceit is way below the standard of Detour and Derailed.

While novel writing is easy, maintaining the standard of writing is not that easy.  I hope that famous authors can maintain their reputation by producing good books.

The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter is a legal thriller with blood and suspense.

The chess problem of Double Excelsior, the shooting in the graveyard, the beating in the university, the FBI, the gangsters, and all other elements combine to make The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter an exciting and chilling thriller.

What I enjoy about The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter is the fact that it offers an insightful glance into the rich and powerful black middle class.

While this book is a thriller, it has spiritual depth, and offers insight into the motivation of our hearts and mind. It is not a book that you can finish within a couple of days.

The theme of black influence runs through The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter.

The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter refers to Oliver Garland, the disgraced Judge. This book was written in the first person point of view, through the youngest son, Talcott Garland’s point of view.

The Emperor of Ocean Park, Oliver Garland, died early in this book. The question of whether the Judge, Oliver Garland, died of natural cause or otherwise was raised early in the story.

As the plot thickens in The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter, the questions of what kind of person was Oliver Garland and whether he was murdered kept the suspense in this book.

An interesting character was Uncle Jack Ziegler. Everyone knew this Uncle Jack Ziegler to be a murderer, yet he was a man who kept his word. However, nobody can prove that he is the middleman for killers and clients. Interestingly, this Uncle Jack Ziegler happened to be the best friend of Judge Oliver Garland.

As the story progress, the personality of Judge Oliver Garland becomes the compelling anchor in the story. Judge Oliver Garland hired killer to kill the two persons who killed his daughter. Judge Oliver Garland fixed cases. Judge Oliver Garland had a devious mind. Judge Oliver Garland set into motion a series of riddles to lead Talcott Garland to the information about the cases that he fixed.

After reading this book, I am very glad that my parents are simple and original folks. They do not have so ugly skeletons hiding in the closet. I also am very glad that I do not have to dig into the past to find out the darker side of my parents.

It probably is a blessing not to born into the rich and powerful family.

The best part of The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter is the philosophical insight into human nature. I note a few interesting and inspiring quotations from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter.

Quote 1 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“Every winter, my father griped about the upkeep and threatened to sell it, because that is what one does when happiness is a questionable investment.”

(My reflection: Is happiness an investment? Is happiness the result of investing in a property?)

Quote 2 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“The device (telephone) has no conscience. It rings when we are sleeping, showering, praying, arguing, reading, making love.”

Quote 3 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“You draw a line and you put yourself on one side of the line and the past on the other.”

(My reflection: This is my favorite quotation. It will serve us very well if we can live our lives according to this advice.)

Quote 4 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“Nobody can resist temptation all the time. The trick is to avoid it.”

Quote 5 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter
“Web: One-third retail, one-third porn, and one-third lies, all of our baser nature in one quick stop.”

(My reflection: As internet progresses, I guess it will become a political weapon very soon. Many people apparently have the tendency to believe everything they read.)

Quote 6 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“Being part of the elite is the reward for working hard and living right.”

Quote 7 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“A few fractures and bruises are a small price to pay for a sense of wonder and independence.”

(My reflection: This is the best advice for parents. It is never good to become over-protective and restrict children from enjoying and learning.)

Quote 8 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“If you strike at the king, you must kill him.”

Quote 9 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“It is not your mind that God wants, but your soul.”

Quote 10 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“God does not want you to read the Bible and say, what a beautiful book! He wants you to read the Bible and say, Hallelujah, I believe.”

(My reflection: How many people really read the Bible? Even many people who called themselves Christians never think of reading the Bible.)

Quote 11 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“Rights are a thing of man. Loving your neighbor, turning to one another in charity and humility, is a gift we give back to the Lord.”

Quote 12 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“No doubt the investigators swore her to silence, but Valerie, for whom gossip is nutrition, gives me a line-by-line account of the interview.”

(My reflection: spreading gossip is human nature. It does not matter our social status or income status, many people still treat gossip as nutrition.)

Quote 13 from The Emperor of Ocean Park by Stephen Carter

“I have, as so often, the courage of the fool.”

Tips to clear clutter in Garage

Title: How to Organize your Garage or Help - I can't find my car in all
this clutter

Author: Michelle Crooker

Article:
Whether you can't fit your car in the garage or you can't find your car in the garage, either of these can cause problems.

First off, let's face it, cars aren't cheap and having to go buy another one because you can't find yours in the garage is a bit embarrassing, not to mention expensive.

Secondly, if you can't get your car into the garage because of the clutter, then you and your car and anything that you have in your car has to suffer through the heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, sleet, ice and other natural disasters while your clutter sits nice and comfortably in your garage. It just doesn't sound fair.

I know life isn't always fair, but you should at least be able to put your car in the garage. In order to find a way to do just that, let's learn how to organize your garage.

I have been in my share of garages, some were so full that you couldn't turn around without falling over something, some were completely empty (ok, it was a house that had just been built), and then there is my dad's garage. He has an amazing garage.

First off, it is big, then there is the way that everything has a place. His garage is so organized that it is truly a marvel. Did he do it overnight? Of course not, in fact he didn't even have a garage for a long time, but once he built it, he organized it.

You don't have to have a lot of space to have an organized garage. Your first question should be - what is my garage for? (no this isn't a -- gee, what is this toothbrush for?, kind of question). When I say this I mean, do you want to put cars (or boats) in your garage? Is it going to be used as a workshop? Do you need space for outdoor equipment (lawn mower, rakes, shovels, etc.)?

After you purpose (yes, purpose is being used as a verb here - when you purpose a room, you are deciding what to do with your room) your garage, you start up the "Steps to Organization" to learn how to organize.

NOTE: If you have read any of my other articles, this next section my seem a bit redundant. It seems that way because it is. I am including the Steps to Organization in each of my articles so that they will work as stand alone articles. If you already know the steps to organization from reading another of my articles on how to organize then skip ahead to the example.

The Steps to Organization are fairly straight forward. Imagine you are putting together a puzzle. What do you do first? (Well, first you open the box, but I am figuring we got past that part.) So what do you second?

Depending on the kind of person you are, you start by sorting the pieces. The pieces with the straight edges go into one pile and the pieces without the straight edges go back into the bottom of the box.

So our first step is:

STEP 1 -- SORTING (woo hoo, yeah, think trumpets and fanfare -- this is exciting, we know where to start)

After you are done sorting your pieces, we move on to step two. (I know, I know - I didn't tell you how to sort or what to sort - that comes later in the article. Just hang in there.)

So what is the next thing that you do when building a puzzle? Do we sort it out and then just walk away? Do we put all the middle (i.e. pieces without the straight edge) together first? No, first we build a border for our pieces. So step two is:

STEP 2 -- BUILDING A BORDER (more fanfare, sounds of cheering)

The border is now built, but we are not done yet. If you left the puzzle with just a border you never get to enjoy the beauty of it. The same goes for organizing. Building a border is great, but now you have to use it. How do you use a border?

I am glad that you asked (ok, I am glad that I asked, but if you were here
I am sure you would have asked.) We use a puzzle border to give us information about the puzzle. The border tells us how big the final product will be. It helps us to determine where the interior pieces should go and it also lets us see a light at the end of the tunnel.

(I went from puzzles to trains, and soon I will go back again. It's a mixed metaphor, but I digress.) So step three is:

STEP 3 -- FILLING IN THE PIECES

This makes sense when you are thinking about a puzzle, after all you have this pile of non-straight-edge pieces just sitting there and waiting. How does this work with organizing? Do you recall way back in step one where we were sorting? Those are our missing pieces, so filling in the pieces means that you are now putting stuff away. (Yes, another light at the end of the tunnel.)

So that's it we are done, right? After all, we sorted the pieces, we built the border, we filled in the pieces, our puzzle is done. Right? Wrong! Sorry, but there is one more step.

(Actually, I am not sorry, but it sounds nicer to say it that way rather than - tough luck bucko, quit being a whiner.) So then what is the last step? Take a minute and think about it - when you are done with a puzzle what do you do? Do you leave it where you built it? Do you take it all apart so you can do it again another time? Do you smear goo on it so that is will become a work of art for you to hang on the wall?

For the purposes of our analogy (i.e. comparing building a puzzle with learning how to organize a closet) We are going to so no, no, yes. No, we don't just leave it where it is - that just adds to the clutter. No, we don't take it apart (What? Are you crazy? We just did all this work, for goodness sake, don't take it apart.)

Yes, we smear goo on it so it is a work of art. Now, before you go get actual goo and really make a mess of things remember - this is an analogy. The goo is basically the stuff that holds the puzzle together and keeps it looking nice.

That is what we need - we want our newly organized area to look nice. So the final step is:

STEP 4 -- THE FINAL STEP - KEEP IT ORGANIZED (I forgot the fanfare for step three so let's just add it in here - fanfare, fireworks and a laser light show, just for fun.)

Now that we have climbed the "Steps of Organization" together, let's look at an example.

Note: if you have only short periods of time to work on your organizing project then still work your way through the steps, however do it in small sections.

Step 1: Sorting

Because the garage can become a dumping ground, this can take some time. If you live in a neighborhood or near a main road and you want it to go faster, the just open up your garage door on a warm spring Saturday morning and put a garage sale sign in your front yard. If you open it, they will come, yard-salers that is.

As you are working on sorting, random people will come into your garage and offer you money for your clutter. This is when you decide if something is worth keeping. If you want to keep something, say, I'm sorry that's not for sale and direct them to the pile of things you have decided to part with.

If you live in Minnesota and it is the middle of winter, this may not be a good option for you.

Back to sorting, begin by making piles -- you may need to open a door or move a vehicle (once you find your car) to have the space to sort. You should have at minimum a pile for trash, a pile for donate or yard sale, a pile for keep in the garage and a pile for keep, but not in the garage.

(The "keep, but not in the garage pile can be in the garage for now, but it will have to leave sometime.) Be careful with this last pile, as you don't want to clutter up the inside of your home, just to empty out your garage.

Once you have your basic piles, look through your two keep piles again. Look at each item and decide if you really need it. If you are holding on to items from someone else, return the items. (If they are the ones that left them, tell them you are learning how to organize and the mean person on the website said to tell them to come over and get their stuff or it's going out in your yard sale.)

Anything that doesn't belong in the garage, but is staying with you needs to find a new home. Don't just put it down and figure you will get to it later, find it a home now. Toss the trash, sell or donate the "get it out of my house" pile, put away the rest, then move on to step two.

Step 2: Building a border

The first thing to think about when organizing a garage is how much space do you have. This may seem like a straightforward question, but when thinking space, don't limit yourself to the floor space. The great thing about garages is you can utilize floor space, wall space, and even ceiling space.

The second thing to think about is: PEGBOARD! Pegboard is a wonderful thing and it looks just fine in a garage. Most pegboard is either brown or white (usually with one color on one side and one on the other).

The employees at your local home improvement store can offer tips on installation. I recently found out that they have galvanized steel pegboard, which is pretty cool looking. In fact they have a whole organizational system to use with the metal pegboard.

What really matters is the look you want for your garage. The reason that pegboard is so great is because it is so customizable. Below you will see a
variety of ways to customize your pegboard.

    Basic Hooks:
    • Screwdriver hooks can hold screwdrivers, pliers, scissors, and pretty much anything that is slim enough to fit into the hole, but has a top of some sort so that it won't go all the way through.
    • There are plain hooks as well. Plain hooks are just long hooks that stick straight out form the wall. Plain hooks can be used for anything from hanging up electrical cords, garden hoses or pretty much anything with a hole in it. I put two of them near each other and use these hooks to hold up our shop broom.
    • The assortment packs are great if you need a variety of storage items and they are generally more cost effective. Some assortments come with jars to hold nuts, washers, or other little items.
    Baskets and Bins:
    • Wire baskets are great for holding larger items (i.e. things that won't fall through the holes). They come in various shapes and sizes.
    • Accessory boxes are nice for larger or smaller items - these boxes can hold little items as they have solid bases.
    • Small bins provide space for hand tools and smaller parts and pieces, like nails, screws, and nuts and bolts.
After you have the tools and other little things under control, you can start looking at how to organize some of the larger items. Depending on if you have more floor space or more wall space, you can choose either a garden tool organizer that stands on the floor or you can look into the strip garden tool organizers that attach to the wall.

Take a look at the various options while keeping in mind your garage layout and choose what works best for you.

There are so many ways to build your garage border, but not all of them will work for everyone since garages come in all different shapes and sizes. Continue to build the border that works for your garage, if you run out of room on the floor, look to the walls.

If you run out of room on the walls, decide if you really need everything and whether it belongs in the garage, then look to the ceiling. They have some great products for ceiling storage.

There are lifts that can hoist bicycles to the ceiling on pulleys, there are shelving units that you can attach to the ceiling above your garage door, there are just so many cool things out there or you can build your own (just make sure you know what you are doing so it doesn't fall on you).

My dad built wooden shelves in his garage then he screwed the lids of jars to the underside of these shelves. He uses the jars for storage of nails, screws, and all manner of little things. This is a great way to store small items (the jars are see through), plus you are able to recycle things you already have.

Step 3: Filling in the pieces

The border is the hard part. Once that is done, start putting things away. Again, as you put each item in its place, determine if you need it. You may need to tweak here and there, but you can do that as you go along.

Step 4: The final Step - Keep it Organized

Don't forget the all important final step. Keep your system going - if you find that in a short time your garage is becoming cluttered again, you need to rethink your system. If the border isn't simple enough for everyone to follow, then you are going to be fighting an uphill battle. Learning how to organize isn't supposed to be hard, if it is hard then something is not right.

Remember - you can do this. Keep it simple, Keep it Organized.

Different types of hair loss

Hair loss occurs on a daily basis. It is normal for us to lose at least a hundred strands of hair everyday.

Hair loss is part of the normal cycle of hair growth. Hair loss occurs naturally and the scalp will grow new hairs as replacement within twelve weeks.

However, hair loss becomes an embarrassing problem for some people. Some people experience hair loss of more than a hundred strands of hair everyday. In fact, hair loss becomes more common since there is a growing number of people who experience massive hair loss.

Many of the people experiencing massive hair loss for the first time may not even aware of it. Some of them do not notice the problem of hair loss until the comments of people around them alert them to the problem.

If you think you are a victim of hair loss, you have to know the specific type of hair loss you are suffering from.

You will know whether you can facing the problem of permanent hair loss or temporary hair loss.

Different types of hair loss

The first type of hair loss is the “androgenetic alopecia”. Androgenetic alopecia is also known as the pattern baldness.

Males and females who have Androgenetic alopecia will experience slow hair growth and the strands of hair are weaker.

The primary cause of Androgenetic alopecia could be heredity since the family history of pattern baldness may increase your risks of hair loss. Even though Androgenetic alopecia is heredity hair loss, age is an important factor since it speeds up the rate of hair loss.

The second type of hair loss is the “cicatricial alopecia”. Cicatricial alopecia is also known as the scarring alopecia. Cicatricial alopecia is a permanent hair loss as a result of inflammation.

In Cicatricial alopecia, the inflammation was able to damage the follicle of the hair and became scars. The new hair is prevented from growing because of these scars. Certain skin conditions, such as lupus erythematosus and lichen planus can result in scarring alopecia or cicatricial alopecia. Actually many causes of inflammation resulting in scarring alopecia or cicatricial alopecia are unknown.

The third type of hair loss is the “alopecia areata”. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease resulting in hair loss.

Although there is already a classification for alopecia areata, the cause of the alopecia areata is unknown. Those victims of alopecia areata are generally healthy. There are some speculations that alopecia areata can be caused by autoimmune disorders such as thyroid illness, genes, or certain virus in the environment. However, nobody really knows why the body turns the immune cells to stop hair growth.

The fourth type of hair loss is the “telogen effluvium”. Telogen effluvium might occur when something shocked the body system and leads to the premature resting of the hair’s growth. This shock can either be physical. However, most hair loss are due to emotional shock, such as depression from death of loved ones and other distress events.

Physiological stress that lead to high fever, changing weight conditions, deficiencies in nutrition and other disturbances in metabolism can lead to Telogen Effluvium. Fortunately this type of hair loss belongs to the temporary hair loss.

The last type of hair loss is the "traction alopecia". Traction alopecia is a result of too much hairstyling that puts too much pressure on the scalp. The constant pulling causes the roots of the hair to weaken and prevent it from growing healthy hair. Traction alopecia is the most preventable type of hair loss.

While hair loss is not as serious a problem as cancer, stroke, diabetes or heart disease, hair loss can cause our self esteem to spiral downhill.

It is best to prevent hair loss by having a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and ability to manage stress. Since traction alopecia is the most preventable of hair loss, we can reduce the rate of hairstyling and let our hair grow naturally.

Overview of hernia

What is hernia?

Hernia refers to the abnormal protrusion of internal organs through the abnormal opening in the wall of the cavity. The most common organ is the stomach.

A combination of increased pressure inside the body plus the weakness in the wall is responsible for hernia. Hernia occurs when internal organs or parts of the organs are protruded out to form a swelling. This swelling will increase in size with coughing, lifting weight, passing stool and urinating. When a person lies down, the swelling reduces except in strangulated and irreducible hernia.

Causes of Hernia

The first cause of hernia is the weakness in the body wall.

It can be congenital weakness. It can due to acquired weakness due to injuries, obesity, wasting of muscles, lack of exercise, lesions in the wall and the presence of weak natural openings, or repeated pregnancy.

It can due to the surgical operation with improper suturing or sepsis of operated site.

The second cause of hernia is the increased pressure inside the body. This pressure can come from chronic constipation, weight lifting, recurrent cough and stricture of urethra.

Common sites for hernia

Hernia can happen anywhere in the body.

However, there are a few common sites for hernia. The chest wall is normally not affected by hernia due to the presence of hard bony covering the chest wall.

Hernia is also rare in the lower back due to strong support of spine and back muscles plus tough ligaments. The common site for hernia is the abdominal wall. The abdominal wall is weak compared to other areas due to the presence of some natural orifices.

There are some areas where the abdominal muscles are weaker and thin. All these factors make a chance for herniation.

Types of Hernia

The first hernia is the Inguinal hernia:

The abdominal contents protrude through the inguinal canal. The inguinal canal is the passage in the lower abdominal wall just above the inguinal ligament. This type of hernia is common in males.

The swelling comes initially while straining and disappears when lying down. However, the swelling due to the large portion of intestine may come out which does not subside easily.

The second hernia is the femoral hernia.

Femoral hernia happens more often in females. The abdominal contents pass through the femoral canal which is just below the junction between the thigh and lower abdominal wall, inside the femoral triangle. The food contents pass downwards and appears through the saphenous opening in the thigh and forms a swelling under the skin.

The third hernia is the umbilical hernia. Umbilical hernia is common in kids. The umbilicus happens to be the weaker part of the abdomen. The contents of the abdomen will protrude when kids are crying or defecating.

The fourth hernia is the incisional hernia.

Incisional hernia is commonly in operated sites. Incisional hernia occurs due to improper suturing or sepsis. The operated site becomes weak and result in hernia.

The fifth hernia is Epigastric hernia. Epigastric hernia occurs in the epigastrium. It is not as common as the other types of hernia.

The sixth hernia is Lumbar hernia.

Lumbar hernia takes place on either side of the lumbar spine, within the lumbar triangle. Lumbar hernia is not as common as other hernia.

The seven hernia is Obturator hernia. Obturator hernia is very rare. Obturator hernia occurs when the contents pass through obturator foramen in the pelvic bone.

Complications of hernia

The first complication of hernia is strangulation.

If the hernial orifice is narrow, the abdominal contents may not return easily. The blood flow to the herniated tissues may be blocked due to constriction. This can result in death of the protruded intestine.

The second complication of hernia is the Intestinal obstruction.

Intestinal obstruction occurs when the whole intestine is protruded into the hernial sac. The narrow hernial orifice will block the passage of bowels.

The third complication of hernia is the infection and peritonitis.

If strangulation results in the death of a part of the intestine, there will be an infection of the abdomen resulting in peritonitis.

Treatment of hernia

In the initial stages of hernia, the following actions may be useful.

Initial treatment of hernia: Using hernia belt.

There are special hernia belts to treat each type of hernia. This can prevent the protrusion and will reduce pain of hernia.

Initial treatment of hernia: Treatment of common ailments resulting in hernia, such as constipation, recurrent cough, and urinary obstruction.

Initial treatment of hernia: Fat reduction, since fat reduction can increase the strength of abdominal wall.

Initial treatment of hernia: Abdominal exercises. The purpose of abdominal exercises is to increase the muscle tone.

Initial treatment of hernia: consume leafy vegetables, fruits and food with high dietary fiber for easier bowel movements.

Initial treatment of hernia: using alternative medicine such as Homoeopathy and Herbal medicine.

If the initial treatment does not work, it is time to consult a general surgeon for surgical treatment of hernia.

Surgical treatment of hernia

Surgical treatment of hernia: Hertniotomy

Hertniotomy is an operation to push the contents of hernial sac into the abdomen. The neck of the sac is ligated with transfixion ligature and the sac is cut off.

Surgical treatment of hernia: Herniorrhaphy.

The posterior wall is repaired in the Herniorrhaphy operation.

Surgical treatment of hernia: Hernioplasty.

Hernioplasty is done when herniotomy is not possible due to wide neck of the sac. The repair is done with the help of non-absorbable materials such as tantalum gauze, polypropylene mesh or stainless steel mesh.

A glance at Glyconutrients

The subject of Glyconutrients is a controversy in the medical world. While many consumers swear by Glyconutrients supplments, the medical world has yet to convince of the “magical healing” properties of Glyconutrients.

The fact that Glyconutrients supplements are sold as health supplements, and not drugs, mean that Food and Drug Administration does not require proof of testing for health and safety of the Glyconutrients supplements. That means there is no need to provide scientific proof of Glyconutrients supplements. Consumers buy Glyconutrients supplements and consume at their own risk.

What are Glyconutrients?

Glyconutrients refers to a group of nutrients, basically sugars, that is essential in proper cellular communication in our body. Glyconutrients is part of an emerging science of nutraceuticals, which is the result of combining nutrients that have pharmaceutical-like effects. These nutrients are naturally occurred in plants.

There are many glyconutrients present in nature. However, there are only eight essential glyconutrients that are important for sustaining the bodily functions, specifically in the cellular communication and in the promotion of immune system responses.

The eight glyconutrients are glucose, xylose, galactose, mannose, N-acetylneuraminic acid, fucose, N-acetylglucosamine, and N-acetylgalactosamine.

The eight glyconutrients come from wood saps and gums, mushrooms, seaweeds, berries such as cranberries and strawberries, human breast milk and other common foods such as wheat, corn, bran, aloe vera and the derivatives.

Glyconutrients supplements

Although glyconutrients are present in high quantities in nature, the drastic changes in food production, the chemical composition of the soil, and the preservation method of the harvests, the food manufacturing process and cooking process have combined to deplete the level of glyconutrients in our diet.

The results is that our immune system’s ability to respond appropriately to virus and bacteria are diminished. We have higher incidence of autoimmune, degenerative and chronic diseases and disorders. The population is generally unhealthy.

That is why many people feel the need to take supplements, especially glyconutrients supplements. Many people simply cannot get sufficient nutrients from the diet to meet the daily needs of the body.

Many body cells die every day. Our body needs to replace the old, dead cells by sufficient number of new cells. This process of bodily function requires minerals and vitamins.

To meet the needs of our bodily functions, many companies have formulated different health supplements that contain important minerals and vitamins, including glyconutrients.

Even though there are not enough scientific tests done on all the health products in the market, many people have proven by their experience that many health products did wonder for them. Many people have bought and will continue to buy glyconutrients supplements, because they are living testimonies that glyconutrients boost their immune system and improve communication between the cells.

Health benefits of glyconutrients

The benefits of glyconutrients can range from enhancing cell to cell communication to improving brain development and memory function. Glyconutrients possess different properties that are essential in preserving optimal health.

Mannose, one of the eight essential glyconutrients, is a very important glyconutrients. Mannose is important to many aspects of bodily function. Mannose benefits the body by preventing the growth of tumor cells, by inhibiting the destructive effects of viruses, parasites, and bacteria, by lowering blood sugar and fat, by alleviating symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, along with other health benefit.

Glucose, another one of the eight essential glyconutrients, is an important sugar to provide a staple source of energy. We can obtain glucose naturally by eating starch, wheat, maize or corn.

Galactose, another one of the eight essential glyconutrients, is found in dairy products and human breast milk. Galactose promotes cell to cell communication, a function that is performed by all the glyconutrients.

Glyconutrients are important in brain development, especially glyconutrients such as N-acetylneuraminic acid and fucose. Many glyconutrients such as N-acetylgalactosamine and mannose help to prevent the formation of tumors in the body. Glyconutrients are crucial in warding off harmful virus and bacteria which causes diseases.

Many people who consume glyconutrients supplements find that glyconutrients help them to alleviate symptoms of conditions and sickness such as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression, Insomnia, Skin dehydration, Flu, Lupus, Anxiety, Asthma, Osteoarthritis, Muscle pain and inflammation, Psoriasis, Neurological Diseases, Diabetes, Heart disease, Obesity, High Blood Pressure (hypertension), Cataracts, Hepatitis, Allergic Reactions, Osteoporosis and Sexual functions.

Since there is no medical directives for the recommended dosage and consumption of glyconutrients supplements, consumers have to consume in moderation and exercise caution.

Short story on casino and gambling

This is a short story on casino and gambling written quite some time ago. I attempt to capture the feelings of some gamblers in the casino, particularly the mood of the slot machine players.

Sometimes, the mood of gambling and the strong desire to win are very strong in the casino. I always feel that casino is a good place to observe people and study human nature.

Short story on casino and gambling

“9 November 2009 (Monday)

Dear Diary, I feel so happy today! We have finally booked the trip to the casino. Oh Casino, Casino, here I come! Please do not let anyone take away my jackpot. Hold the mega jackpot for me! Let me win the biggest jackpot, the million dollars jackpot on Thursday.

Oh, how sweet to hear the winning music! How nice to see the smartly dressed Casino employees coming over to congratulate me. Everyone will be looking at me with green, envious eyes. Everyone will say, “Such a lucky gal!” Oh yes, I am the lucky gal.

That is not all, Dear Diary. I’m sure Lady Luck loves me very much. She will let me win again on Friday. Yes, I want to win the second largest jackpot, and I am very sure Lady Luck loves me very much!

How nice to win two major jackpots in two consecutive days!

All the gamblers will whisper among themselves when they see me approaching, “See, she is the one, the gal who won the Jackpot yesterday. She wins again. Unbelievable! The kind of good luck she has”.

Oh good people, fellow gamblers, jolly well believe it. This Friday I will prove to you! I will show you the good luck that I possess! You will see how lucky I am.

So happy and excited! I wonder how am I going to fall asleep tonight. I am gambling mentally in the casino.

10 November 2009 (Tuesday)

Dear Diary, I woke up with a terrible headache this morning. I had not slept well. The casino and gambling had taken over my dream.

My dear family doctor took a look at me and issued a medical certificate for two days. He is such a kind old dear.

I have no mood to think of casino and gambling. I need to sleep, otherwise I will suffer a nervous breakdown.

11 November 2009 (Wednesday)

Dear Diary, how time flies. At this hour tomorrow, I will win the mega jackpot. I am so excited. The thought of casino and gambling practically crowd out all other thoughts. I think I have won the mega jackpot mentally a hundred times every day.

I deserve to win, dear Diary. I spent eight hours going to all the “lucky” temples and churches to pray for good luck. I have made a deal with all the gods.

After they let me win the two jackpots, I will donate a portion of the winnings to their temples. I am sure they are happy with the deal too.

12 November 2009 (Thurday)

6.00 am

Oh Casino, Casino, here I come! How I wish I could fly. How I wish the journey to the casino takes just one minute. I am in the mental stage of seventh heaven.

12.00 pm

Oh Casino, Casino, I see you, I see you! Finally, I can see the city of my good luck. Such a crowded place! So nice of everyone to come and contribute towards the jackpot.

Hi gamblers, please put in more money to the slot machines. All of you will not have a chance to win as long as I am here. Maybe you are not even aware of this fact.

11.00 pm

So tired, I have played for ten hours. Lady Luck is testing my faith. I cannot believe that Lady Luck refuses to smile on me.

I just have to hit one more time, just one more time, to win the mega jackpot. I refuse to accept that I cannot win. It is impossible, I am the lucky gal. I can feel it in my bone.

I will hit one more time, just one more time, to win the mega jackpot. I cannot go to sleep now. I cannot give up, now that winning is so close! I refuse to give up my mega jackpot!

What if I go to sleep and someone steals away my jackpot? I will hate myself forever. I must win, the jackpot is mine, let nobody steals it away. Just got to hit one more time, I will win the jackpot, then I can sleep in happiness and peace.

13 November 2009 (Friday)

3.00 am

So tired, I cannot keep my eyes open anymore. I know I must look like a complete wreck. I hate gambling and I hate casino. I wonder why I used to enjoy gambling so much. I wonder why I paid money to come to the casino just to lose money.

Better go to sleep, no point harming my health for the sake of money, even if it is a multi-million dollars. Of course the jackpot will still be here another day. Nobody has managed to capture the mega jackpot for more than a year.

2.00 pm

Oh, Lady Luck, Lady Luck, please, please let me take the mega jackpot today. You know I have to go home tomorrow morning. I will not have a chance to come here for a long, long time. Please let me win. I promise I will make good use of the money. Please give me the jackpot.

11.00 pm

Please, please, Lady Luck, I beg you, let me win. I have only ten dollars left. Please do not let me go home empty-handed. Please, all the gods in heaven, let me win. Since someone has to win the mega jackpot one day, why not let it be me?

11.10 pm

This is the last chance. I must win. I have no more money for gambling. I must win. Please, Lady Luck, and all the gods in heaven, let me win, let me hit the winning combination.

Oh no, I cannot believe it! All my money gone! I hate casino. I hate gambling. I hate all the people here. I want to smash all the slot machines into pieces. I want to call down fire from heaven to destroy the casino and all the gambling dens. Oh, how I hate casino, nothing but money sucker. I do not want to see this hateful gambling den anymore. I hate myself.

(sobbing) I want to go home. I do not ever, ever want to step into casino again. I will quit gambling. I hate gambling.

7 tips to self improvement

Everyone needs self improvement in certain areas. Even if you are rich and famous, that does not guarantee that you know how to live happily. Many rich and famous people need self improvement tips to become better person, and better parents.

Many celebrities need self improvement tips to live a meaningful life.

I seldom read newspapers on celebrities gossips. Most of the times the gossips focus on the failure of the celebrity marriages. In certain cases, the celebrities are so miserable that they commit suicide. All of us need self improvement to find happiness in life, even if we are in the unfortunate position of being rich and famous.

It seems strange that those supposedly “flawless” people who live a fairytale life of riches and glamour are living a meaningless existence. Many of them know how to capture the hearts of their admirers, yet they cannot capture the hearts of their spouse or children. They certainly need self improvement tips.

It does mean that we are any happier than them. Many of us need self improvement tips as much as they did.

There are many ways to lose our self esteem. A small barrier or stumbling stone in life can make us feel like a failure. The fact that we lose our jobs in a recession, though no fault of ours, can make us feel like a failure. However, we should never lose our meaning of life, and never ever lose the desire for self improvement.

There are many simple self improvement tips for us to lead a successful life.

Self improvement tip 1: Know your purpose

Even if the purpose of life is so elusive that you do not think of it, you should at least know your purpose of life in the immediate future.

Your immediate purpose of life may range from providing for the needs of family to paying off the house. The longer term purpose of life may be to find happiness, prosperity and health.

You can at least write the immediate goal and purpose, before you think about the long term. This will help you in self improvement.

If you find that you have ignored the warning signs of your body, your self improvement will be physical in nature. You will need to find self improvement tips specifically in health and fitness.

It is a bit difficult to reflect on life, if you have been escaping from yourself all along. You may not like your current situation. You may not like even yourself. This provides the basis for self improvement.

You can always turn things around with self improvement, so that you can make a big difference to yourself.

Self improvement tip 2: Know your values

Everyone has a sense of right and wrong. Some of us value diligence and hard work. Some of us value intelligence and work smart.

What do you value most? It is nothing wrong if you put money or financial freedom as the most valuable asset in the world. Many young people value money and career since they have no family obligation. Once they get married and have kids, career and money take the back seat.

You can make a list of your top five values. Some examples of values are job security, honesty, financial freedom, family and kids, spiritual development and higher education.

Your values will affect the way you think and the way you live your life. Your values will determine the path of self improvements.

Self improvement tip 3: Know your needs

You must know what are your needs in life.

Everyone has the same basic needs. However, some people view food more important than other needs. Some people view spiritual needs more important than other needs.

You have to determine your most crucial needs. If your spiritual needs are stronger than monetary needs, you can concentrate on self improvement in this area.

You can read the Bible, I-Ching, The Richest Man in Babylon, The Science of Getting Rich, Think and Grow Rich, and other books on spiritual and meaning of life for self improvement.

Unmet needs can keep you from living a meaningful life. You have to take care of your needs, and identify the unfulfilled needs.

If your need is for love, you need to love yourself first. To love and be loved is a wonderful feelings. However, you need self improvement to become a better and lovable persons.

Self improvement tip 4: Know your passion in life

You have witnessed many people in your workplace. The way your colleagues do their work reflect their passion in life. Some people have the passion for the job they are doing. Some people have passion for their hobbies, and hate their work very much.

You will face obstacles, such as doubt and lack of enthusiasm from time to time. If you lack passion in work, you can either change your attitude or change your job. You need motivational self improvement tips to inject passion into your life.

Self improvement tip 5: Inner self

Many people are not beautiful, yet they are attractive and popular. Their facial features reflect their inner beauty and joy. You can learn self improvement tips from watching them, and listening to them.

You can increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regular reflection. This is an important step in self improvement.

You have to commune with nature and commune with your inner self. You can breathe deeply to clear the distraction from your mind. This is an important technique in self improvement.

It does not matter how noisy or polluted the city is, the peace and quiet comes from our inner self. The minute we block out the noise and pollution, and start to engage in talking to your inner self, you are on the right path to self improvement.

Some people like a quiet moment at home for meditation. Meditation and reflection are necessary to self improvement. This is the time you face yourself, and learn to comfort and encourage yourself.

Self improvement does not mean to punish and blame yourself. Whatever has happened, has happened. There is no point in blaming yourself. Blame is not a part of self improvement. To move forward and to do better are part of self improvement.

Self improvement tip 6: Honor your strengths

What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? Self improvement means to recognize your strength.

You can identify your three strong points, and find ways to improve on your strength.

You can build your self-confidence when you focus on your strength instead of your weakness. Self improvement means to fulfill your potential and leverage on your strength. If you are good at music, aim to become the best in the specific field of music. That is self improvement. There is no point in learning to draw when you are extremely bad in arts.

Self improvement tip 7: Help others

Nobody lives happily by living for himself. Selfishness and self improvement do not go hand in hand. You will feel happier when you grab the opportunity to help those who need and want your help.

When you are true to yourself, living the purpose of your life, and giving your talents to the world at large, you will gain the inner and monetary rewards.

Many teachers know that the rewards of teaching are not just monetary rewards. The rewards of teaching include the satisfaction of watching the students growing into knowledgeable and splendid young persons.

Self improvement is necessary for happiness and success in life. Since all of us are not perfect, and can never be perfect, self improvement is a continuous process.

When we gain self improvement tips in some areas, we can share and help others in their path of self improvement.

Crime Scene Investigation: The Body

One of the most interesting parts of reading thrillers is the discovery of body and the description of body in crime scene investigation.

There is at least one body in every crime thriller, legal thriller, forensic science thriller and other paperback thrillers. Many crime writers are doing a good job in describing the body in relation to crime scene investigation.

Most of us do not have a chance (nor do we desire) to come across a dead body in our life. That is why crime scene investigation and the placement of the body thrill us. That is why the bloodier the better for crime scene investigation in thrillers.

Corpse in Crime Scene Investigation

When investigators in crime scene investigation scan the area for evidence, they will focus on the most important evidence to the crime – the corpse.

The condition of the corpse is the one important factor to decide on how crime scene investigation progress. The corpse yields many information such as the cause of death, whether the victim was killed there or placed there, and other factors that will affect the crime scene investigation. The corpse is a silent witness to the crime and is the most important physical evidence in any crime scene investigation.

While autopsy is conducted at the laboratories to determine the cause of death, all the items collected in crime scene investigation contributes to the capture of killer.

Examining the corpse in Crime Scene Investigation

The initial evaluation of the corpse in crime scene investigation can yield basic and important information, such as the timing of death, and the probable cause of death.

It does not take much intelligence to determine the cause of death when detectives see the gunshot wounds.

During the initial examination of a victim's body in crime scene investigation, the crime scene investigators look for items to predict the timing of death, and the identity of the killer.

Different methods and equipments are used to gather evidence in crime scene investigation. There are many resources found on the corpse to link with other physical evidences found by investigators in crime scene investigation. When the investigator see the gunshot wounds, the next obvious search is for the gun. After that, they will have to determine the owner of the gun.

However, if the crime scene investigation yields that the victim was killed elsewhere, and there are limited physical evidence at the place where the corpse was dump, the investigators have to find the original place for crime scene investigation.

Find Evidences in Crime Scene Investigation

When crime scene investigators inspect the victim's body to look for clues to the crime, they follow the standard protocols.

There are basic criteria that detectives follow so that they can conduct a methodical crime scene investigation. The following criteria are used when the investigators examining the corpse in crime scene investigation:

The first criteria in crime scene investigation is to note the skin condition of the corpse. In most cases, the investigators can narrow the timing of death through the advancement of rigor mortis. The largest muscles take a longer time to stiffen, and to loosen. However, there are many factors affecting the rigor mortis, including the temperature fluctuation.

The second criteria in crime scene investigation is to look for skin marks or signs of struggle between the victim and the killer.

The third criteria in crime scene investigation is to determine whether where the victim was killed.

The fourth criteria in crime scene investigation is to determine whether the victim's position is the original position of death or whether the killer intentionally posed the corpse in a manner to convey a message.

The fifth criteria in crime scene investigation is the clothing of the corpse.

The initial examination of the body in crime scene investigation sets the stage as to what other evidences they need to look for. The worst is when the corpse has decomposed so much that identity is not possible. In extreme case, the body is chopped into pieces and cook into the Indian curry before disposal. The recovery of a body part is unlikely to yield information to the identity of the victim, much less to the killer.

Collection of Body Fluids in crime scene investigation

Body Fluids are mechanically recovered from crime scene investigation.

It is further analyzed in the laboratories to identify the various type of body fluid. Body fluids include a blood stain, seminal fluids, saliva, sweat and other types of fluids.

Body fluids can yield important DNA information.

In some cases, the detection of seminal fluids in a victim's body indicate that the victim was raped by the killer before or after death.

Latent Prints in crime scene investigation

The purpose of crime scene investigation is to catch the killer. And all evidences gathered in crime scene investigation should help the investigators narrow down the list of suspects.

The best evidence comes from DNA and fingerprints. That is why the investigators use different equipments and techniques to recover hairs, fluids, latent prints, such as fingerprints, that would lead to the identification of the suspect.

What can Stress do to you

If you have paid attention to people around you, you will notice that the different effects of stress on people.

Some people are very weird. They panic when their pet dog gets sick. They cannot eat, cannot sleep and cannot do anything due to the effects of stress on discovering that their pet dog is sick.

However, when it comes to life-threatening crisis, such as discovery of cancer on their bodies, they react calmly. They check the insurance policy. They network with cancer survivors. They explore treatments for cancer, including alternative medicine. The effects of stress make them think calmly and react rationally.

Since people are so different, the same news produce different effects of stress on people.

For example, when students face with difficult examination papers, the effects of stress range from crying, total blank, creative effort to systemically tackling the examination papers.

In a sense, events do not cause stress, and not all effects of stress are bad. Some people handle crisis calmly while the effects of stress on missing the bus cause them unhappiness for the whole day. Some people handle the daily stress very well, but the effects of stress from crisis make them suffer complete mental breakdown.

The effects of stress can be mental, physical and produce some strange and adverse effect on the body. It is common to see that the effects of stress cause the immune system to break down, and the body suffers from all kinds of strange sickness.

We can never deny the fact that we have our limits in handling stress. Our mind and body can tolerate certain types of stress. Some people actually function better under extreme stress, the effects of stress motivate them to perform superhuman acts. Some people cannot handle stress, not even the stress of getting up in the morning to go to work, the effects of stress produces high fever and other sicknesses.

Your Body And Stress

The effects of stress on the body can show others that we are under great stress. The effects of stress on physical health are headache, dizziness, migraine, stomach cramp, cold, aches and pains on different parts of the body and acnes.

There is also a possibility that the effects of stress upset the body chemistry. There are reports on the adverse effects of stress, such as stomach ulcer and cancer. These are the extreme adverse effects of stress, and usually occur due to long period of suffering under extremely stressful condition.

The problem is that even thought the sickness is physical, the cause of the sickness is not. While a series of medication can remedy the physical symptoms, they cannot eliminate the cause of stress.

There are only two ways to reduce the adverse effects of stress. One way is to manage stress well. Another way is to get out from the situation that causes stress.

Stress And Your Behavior

The effects of stress is usually felt by others.

When a person is under the grip of stress, he tends to act rashly and exhibits many bad behavior. An usually meek person can snap at everyone, even the boss of the company. Some people become depressed and nothing will cheer them up. Stress and depression are very good pals. You cannot get rid of depression without getting rid of stress.

Some common effects of stress are having trouble falling asleep, having nightmares or eating too much. As a result, the effects of stress produce physical signs, such as fatigue and black eye rings.

The effects of stress can be emotional. Some common adverse effects of stress are depression, self-pity and anger. In extreme cases, the effects of stress include mental breakdown and suicidal thoughts.

Dealing with the effects of stress
